Overview
Takahashi Kikumatsu was the founder of Nissin Machine Works, Ltd. He developed the centerless grinding machine.
Biography
He was born in Hekinan City, Aichi Prefecture, in 1891. He came to Hamamatsu with his boss, Sakamoto Kyūgorō, in 1921. He learned skills under Sakamoto, and started his own company, Nissin Machine Works, Ltd, in 1931.
He developed looms, and taught his skills in Southeast Asia and India in 1936. The second Sino-Japan War occurred in 1937, while he was manufacturing metal lathes under the military control he worked on the development of the centerless grinding machine. In 1941, he succeeded on manufacturing it. This device was applied to the manufacture of military goods, airplanes, and after the war, car parts.
He died in 1964.
