Overview
Horiuchi Katsujirō developed the Japan’s first photograph film.
Biography
He established a photographic film manufacturer company called Asahi Shashin Kōgyō in 1925. All films were imported at the time. Horiuchi and a researcher build a factory near the Shinkawa River and the Makome River in Asada-cho. They released the Japan’s first photograph film, Kiku Film, in 1928. The company also introduced the Japan’s X-ray film, ASK X-ray Film, in 1930, and 35 mm cinema films in 1938.
