Biography
Yoshihei was in delicate health and wasn't very successful in school at young ages. However, once he became interested in academics, his grade improved dramatically. He graduated from Tokyo Imperial University (present Tokyo University), and earned a post in the most famous architect office back then in Japan.
On his first task, he went to Korea. After he opened his office in 1912, he designed many buildings in Korea and China. He went back to Japan when the office got on fire in 1920.
From 1921 to 1922, he traveled 17 countries, 90 cities, around the world to study their architecture.
He opened an office in Tokyo and designed many notable buildings. In 1944, he came came back to Hamamatsu. His works include: buildings of Hamamatsu Ginkō kyōkai(Hamamatsu Bankers Association) and Enshū Ginkō Honten (present Shizuoka Bank Hamamatsu Branch) in Hamamatsu, The Shizuoka Prefecture Government Office’s Main Building and Shizuoka Sanjyūgo Ginkō Honten (present Shizuoka Bank Head Office) in Shizuoka City.
