It purposes to introduce rich biodiversity and fishery resources in Lake Hamana and its local livelihood. Wotto promotes the importance of nature, which supports our lives.
The name was given by Nishiyama Yōsei, 4th grade in Maisaka Elementary School at the time. It was chosen out of entries by local students. Wotto is a word combined "wo"(meaning fish in Japanese) and "water spot."
