Overview
Kokubun Chūnosuke was the founder of Kokubun Ltd and developed braiding machinery (Seichūki).
Biography
He was born in 1897 in Mogami District in Yamagata Prefecture.
He decided to work in a braiding machines manufacturing company, as he came to know about the machinery when he was working in Tokyo as an engineer to learn more skills.
The first machine he sold to Hamamatsu got him good reputations. He established Kokubun Tekkōjō (Kokubun Ltd) in 1922 at Terajima-cho. He exported Kokubun braider machines to India in 1936. Jawaharlal Nehru, the prime minister of India then, sent a letter of appreciation to Kokubun, who were giving technical guidance to the engineers in India with invitation from the country’s government, in 1949.
He died in 1970.
