Hamamatsu Information Book

Nojima Haruo devised the fundamental part of high speed cameras.

 

He worked on the development of high speed cameras at Hamamatsu Industrial School (present Shizuoka University) as an assistant of a professor. This camera was called the microscope of moments.　Haruo devised a mechanism to apply hexahedral prisms. In 1939, he became a professor and proceeded with his study. He created a camera that records 10,000 frames per second in 1939. This invention was thought as significant as the TV Takayanagi Kenjirō developed.

He died of illness at young age of 42.
