Overview
Shibata was the founder of Fuji Corporation and the inventor of rise dispensers that measure rice.
 
Biography
He was talented on machine making. People gathered at his house at night to listen to the radio he built. He learned his skills at Waseda University and the division of car manufacture of Toyota Loom Co. As the motorcycle industry flourished in Hamamatsu after the WWII, he established Fuji Corporation and began manufacturing motorcycles parts.
In 1963, he invented a rice dispenser that measures quantity. This product was a big hit and earned Science Technique Leader Prize in 1990. He also invented many other products such as a homemade mochi (rice cake) making machine.
